01/09/2002 Entry: "Engineering and Science"

This week's Researchbuzz-extra, #39, by Tara Calishain mentions a site that I think is pretty neat. The site is titled "Did, you Ever Wonder?" and it's URL is http://www.lbl.gov/wonder/index.html. The site is published by Lawrence Berkeley National Labs. The site holds a series of articles that spot light people at the lab and some of the questions they answer through their work. For example:
"About a better way to light up the darkness?"
Michael Siminovitch, lighting scientist, created stylish lighting fixtures that are safer, provide better illumination, and use one fourth the energy.

The articles are attractive and well written, and a nice combination of science, engineering, and design.
