| Fredericksburg Songwriters' Showcase | Emily Henry |

Emily Henry wrote her first song at 13 years old, picked up her first guitar a year later, and ever since then it's been nonstop music. A child of musicians, at eighteen years old Emily is well on her way to making a career out of something she describes as "like church to me.
"I always get stymied when people ask me why I write or why I sing," she says. "I don't understand why they have to ask. If I didn't write songs, there wouldn't be anything. Music is it for me."
Her persuasive melodies wind their way into the heads and the hearts of her audiences. Her intelligent lyrics and pure, confident voice have been compared to those of Aimee Mann, Alison Krauss, and Joni Mitchell. She is currently working on her first album with producer Tom Prasada-Rao, while making the rounds at area coffee houses and other venues.
